Penn State Scranton To Name Baseball Field After Matt McGloin

No word on whether whiskey will be served in the concessions.

Onward State is reporting that the new baseball field being built at the Penn State Worthington Scranton campus is going to be named after none other than the town's native son, Matt McGloin.

A fundraising effort has recently been started in order to protect the naming rights as it takes a $100,000 donation payable over four years for that to happen. All donations are being accepted in Matt's name, according to the story.

McGloin and the other members of the 2012 football team will always be looked upon fondly for their contributions on and off the field over the past year, but does that mean he should be honored with a baseball field being named after him? I understand that he was a baseball star in Scranton during high school and everything, but I don't know if this is the proper honor for the gunslinger. But, hey, to each their own and all that.
