According to Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.com, Penn State will play their preseason tournament in the NBA's newest arena, the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The tournament is set to take place on Friday, November 29th and Saturday the 30th. Joining them will be Ole Miss, Georgia Tech and St. John's, who normally play their home games in Madison Square Garden.
Last season the Nittany Lions took part in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, sandwiching a win over a shorthanded Providence with losses to then-ranked N.C. State and 2013 MAC champion Akron. Previous non-conference tournament destinations have included Connecticut, Charleston, Philadelphia, and Orlando.
As for the opponents, Ole Miss had the best record in 2012-13 (25-8 thus far) and loses three seniors. Dynamic scorer Marshall Henderson dot gif should return as the leading scorer (19.9 ppg) for what should be the tournament favorites. St. John's and Georgia Tech had more pedestrian seasons, as both finished 16-15 overall.
Much of the Nittany Lions' non-conference schedule is unconfirmed at this point, but Pennsylvania schools La Salle (Home), Penn (at the Palestra) Duquesne (Home Away) and Bucknell (Away) will be on the schedule barring unforseen changes.
