Lady Lions guard Maggie Lucas topped off a stellar junior campaign by being named to the Associated Press's All-America second team today. Teammate Alex Bentley was also honored as an honorable mention.
Lucas, who was also the Big Ten's Player of the Year, was third in the conference in scoring average at 20.1 points per game and fourth nationally in three-point field goal percentage at 46.2%.
Bentley averaged 14.1 points per game on the season to go along with 3.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists, marks that propelled her to her third first-team All-Big Ten selection. The senior was also named the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award winner, given to the best collegiate women's basketball player under 5'8".
The Lady Lions won the Big Ten regular season title and fell to LSU in the second round of the NCAA Tournament this year.
