Pittsburgh O-lineman Miles Dieffenbach somewhat surprisingly committed to the Nittany Lions in 2010, and is the last remaining in a trio of WPIAL lineman that were hauled in that year (the other two being Luke Graham and Tom Ricketts).
Originally considered a Pitt lock (with a dad as the Pitt tennis coach, and having grown up a Panther fan), it only took one visit for Dieff to be hooked on the blue and white, much to bscaff's delight. Pretty expectedly, he redshirted his first season in Happy Valley, and , due to the depth in front of him, did not play in 2011. Last year, though, Dieff burst onto the scene, solidifying his place as the go-to left guard.
Going into this fall, the starting left guard position is Dieffenbach's to lose, and that is not very likely. As bscaff broke down after the blue/white game, the guard is fundamentally solid and will look to anchor the line for two more years.
