Centre Daily Times: O'Brien, Trustees Meet To Plan A Proposal To Reduce NCAA Sanctions

USA TODAY Sports

As part of thjs weekend's Board of Trustees meetings, Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien gave a presentation on Friday morning on a proposal to ask the NCAA to reduce the sanctions that were levied against the football program nearly a year ago, Mike Dawson of the Centre Daily Times is reporting.

The meeting was closed-door, but some presentation slides were able to be seen through long glass windows, Dawson said. While details of the proposal could not be made out from the outside, one slide certainly was. It was a slide that said "Individual lawsuits DO NOT help us" with DO NOT underlined as well. Some trustees who are included in the Paterno suit against the NCAA, including Anthony Lubrano and Adam Taliaferro, were in attendance for the presentation.

Neither O'Brien nor any administrators or trustees gave comment on the presentation after its conclusion.

Penn State received the sanctions after signing the NCAA's consent decree which does state that the sanctions could be modified at any point upon written consent. However, in March, NCAA president Mark Emmert did say that he did not see a reduction in sanctions as a possibility unless new facts were to come out.
