Leroy Thompson graduated from Penn State in 1990, and was drafted by the Steelers in 1991. He went on to play 6 seasons in the NFL for Pittsburgh, New England, Kansas City, and Tampa Bay. He was known for having fantastic hands out of the backfield, and he became a reliable option for the 1990 squad, racking up 573 yards and 8 touchdowns on the ground, to go along with 20 catches for 245 yards. Overall in his PSU career, he logged 1,631 all-purpose yards, to go with 37 catches and 12 touchdowns.
Leroy was a recruit out of Knoxville, Tennessee, and was a co-captain for his senior season on the Lions. He is now out of football, and has 3 children. Think we'll see some of them end up at Penn State? We hope you're enjoying your retirement, Leroy!
