Currently listed as a backup safety on the depth chart, Jesse Della Valle will most likely make his biggest impact in the return game once again in 2013. The redshirt junior took over punt return duties for the Navy game and never relinquished the job, but don't be surprised to see him in the rotation for a thin secondary this season. Della Valle is example 1A of the importance of Bill O'Brien's run-on program for the next three seasons; the ability to get dependable players from this talent pool will determine just how far Penn State can go during the sanction years. If they're all like Della Valle (who, by the way, is a constant presence on the Dean's List) then the Lions should be in good shape.
