Only Derek Dowrey Until Penn State Football

Only as many days until Syracuse as there are U,S, States, provided that Guam, Puerto Rico, and DC gain statehood by the time this goes up Tuesday morning.

Another day, another redshirt freshman lineman. Derek Dowrey comes to Penn State from Winchester, Virginia, where he put up crazy numbers en route to three-peating as NoVa defensive player of the year. Tipping the scales at a massive 6-3, 308-pounds, Dowrey figures to play a big role in Larry Johnson's ever rotating cadre of defensive tackles, just like his classmates Austin Johnson and Brian Gaia. A coaches' son, Dowrey brings more than just size--he's sure to have the requisite awareness and high football IQ that come standard with those in the bloodlines of football intelligentsia.
