Well that sure fell better than last year's season-opener. Here's what people have to say about the Nittany Lions after a somewhat uneven, but very satisfying victory over Syracuse:
ESPN believes that Penn State's quarterback mystery has been solved after Christian Hackenberg's impressive week one performance. They also awarded SOA with a much-deserved Helmet Sticker. Brian Bennett looks into the future with Hackenberg at the helm. Garry Gilliam was named the unsung hero of the game for his touchdown (and game??) saving tackle in the third quarter.
Onward State offers some interesting takeaways from yesterday's contest, including the fact that Sam Ficken will be able to make Bill O'Brien's life much easier this season. What a difference a year can make.
David Jones lets us know that Christian Hackenberg will make mistakes this season. He also likely knew of Allen Robinson's suspension weeks in advance, but just didn't want to tell anyone. Bob Flounders grades the teams' performance in week one. Eugene Lewis is a name we should all become very familiar with. SOA had a very, very happy homecoming yesterday.
Our friend Matt de Bear offered his Players of the Game over at Victory Bell Rings. Any guesses who he picked for offense??
New York's Football team was surprised to have played a de facto away game at MetLife Stadium. We Are....Everywhere.
An interesting look at Gilliam's offseason transformation to a starting Big Ten offensive tackle.
Former BSDer Ben Jones takes an in-depth look at the future relationship of O'Brien and Hackenberg.
