Rapid Reaction: Penn State Snaps 10-Year Futility Streak Against Ohio State, 71-70

Nobody should be wearing pants at this point.

SO CLUTCH.
SO CLUTCH.

Against all odds, Penn State overcame turnovers, massive free throw shooting disparity, an 11-point second half deficit, and some god-awful officiating that all but tried to hand the game to Ohio State, to force overtime in Columbus. With his team trailing by a point with mere seconds remaining, D.J. Newbill took matters into his own hands, driving towards the hoop and nailing an ice-water-in-the-veins pull-up jump shot from the free throw stripe to put Penn State ahead with two seconds remaining. This, coming off the heels of a clutch three-point shot DJ hit in regulation to force overtime in the first place...

Ohio State threw a decent in-bounds pass to half-court which was caught by Aaron Craft, but Craft was never able to get a shot off before time expired. Just like that, Penn State had snapped a futility streak that extended all the way back to January 2004, when Ed DeChellis was in his rookie season coaching the Nittany Lions and wait for it...Jan Jagla was one of the team's go-to scorers.
