Pat Chambers had to wait 18 months from the time he committed, but Mike Watkins is now officially a Nittany Lion.

It either feels like Mike Watkins committed 18 months ago or just yesterday, depending on what type of Penn State basketball fan you are. If you're the former, you've been dreading the eventual news that Watkins, who has achieved four-star, top-100 player status in recruiting circles since his commitment to Penn State, would jump ship to a more historic program like Trey Burke and Brandon Austin (good riddance) before him. if you're the latter, well, you probably just didn't think about it all that much and probably have more of a life than the rest of us.

Nevertheless, the worrying can end now. Mike Watkins, a post player that will be expected to step into the rotation in 2015-16 and contribute, has signed a letter of intent with Penn State. Barring catastrophe [knocks on all the wood], Pat Chambers now has two cornerstone players locked up in the class of 2015, a class that has to be considered the best in program history.

Perhaps the best term to describe Watkins is "high-motor." The dude works, whether it's battling for rebounds, blocking shots, maneuvering for position on the low block, or even running the floor. He has all the tools to be an impact big man in the B1G, something that Penn State hasn't had in a player since...uh...Sasa Borovnjak? Calvin Booth? Frank Brickowski?

Anyway, here are some highlight videos. You may get excited, and even dance if you want to.

Welcome to Penn State, Mike!
