Mike Hull Awarded Team MVP

The leader of the Nittany Lion defense picks up the team's award for Most Valuable Player.

Mike Hull, the winner of the 2014 Butkus-Fitzgerald award (Best B1G Linebacker) was awarded as Penn State MVP at the team's senior banquet. The graduate senior was given the "Lion's Pride Outstanding Player Award" in front of around 700 guests in an event to honor the 2014 senior class. Highlighting the ceremony, James Franklin spoke highly of those involved.

"I couldn't be more proud of these seniors, for the blood, sweat, and tears you have given to this program. The sense of pride in Penn State is unbelievable...You will forever be remembered; you stayed strong and laid the foundation."

Hull becomes only the fifth member of Linebacker U to be awarded the team MVP, with Shane Conlan, Paul Posluszny, Dan Conner and Michael Mauti coming before him.

Other honorees include:

Most Valuable Offensive Player - Christian Hackenberg.

Highest Academic Average - Brandon Smith.

Scout Team Awards - Mark Allen (Offense), Antoine White (Defense), and Dom Salomone (Special Teams).

Football Support Staff Member of the Year - PJ Mullen.

Outstanding Member of Special Teams - Sam Ficken.

Sportsmanship Award - Miles Dieffenbach.

Outstanding Offensive Lineman - Angelo Mangiro.

Senior who exhibits Courage, Character, and Responsibility - Ryan Keiser.

Run-On Award - Cole Chiappialle and Von Walker.

Outstanding Defensive Lineman - Anthony Zettel.

Strength and Conditioning Award - Deion Barnes.

Joe/Sue Paterno Award - Ryan Keiser.

Special Awards - Adrian Amos, Zach Zwinak, Bill Belton.

Academic Achievement - Brad Bars.
