The Tale:

Carter was originally recruited by Penn State by Larry Johnson under the previous staff, and had visited the Nittany Lions back in October, for the Michigan game (is it any wonder he ended up committing?). LJ continued to recruit him at Ohio State, but the Buckeyes haven't yet offered the junior, who was one of the guys Nick profiled in his Junior Day primer this week, and whom Nick predicted would pull the trigger (insert his "told you so" quote here).

He also has visited Michigan, MSU, and Maryland, so you've got to know that he likes what he sees in Happy Valley. Hailing from Nittany Lion alum Sean Stanley's high school alma mater, Carter comes from what was LJ's recruiting hotbed, and could be a pipeline for Coach James Franklin for years to come.

Outlook:

Listed as an athlete or defensive end (or both) by all recruiting services, Carter most likely projects to be a linebacker at Penn State. He's one of the top ten players in the state of Maryland this early in the process, and played forward for the Gaithersburg basketball team as well; he stepped up for the Trojans as a sophomore when needed and played quarterback, but focused solely on defense as a junior, notching 34 tackles, 7 TFLs, 5 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries.

He's already got great size as a junior prospect, and could fit in quite well as the next generation LBU prospect.

Welcome to Penn State, Kamonte!
