Catching up with Penn State Target 2015 CB Daivon Ellison

The 3* recruit from a New Jersey powerhouse talks about his recruitment.

Daivon Ellison hails from Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey, a school commonly known as one of the very best high school programs in the country. Daivon is currently rated as a three star recruit according to the 247Composite rankings. He currently holds offers from Boston College, Old Dominion, and Rutgers. He is also receiving interest from Penn State and Virginia Tech, as well as a who's who of Big Ten schools. Daivon recently visited Penn State for Junior Day along with teammate, Jimmy Schulz. Daivon was kind enough to answer some questions for us.

How was Junior Day?

Junior Day at Penn State was really good, actually. I enjoyed my time there, meeting the coaches and meeting new prospects from all across the country.

Did you have a favorite part of the visit?

When we went to the hockey game, it gave me a really good understanding of how serious the fans take Penn State football. As soon as we came there and sat where we were, everybody was looking at us and shaking our hands and all that good stuff.

Where do you feel like you are with your whole recruiting process right now? Is it still enjoyable or is it beginning to wear on you?

It's starting to get annoying, but I'm also enjoying it at the same time.

A lot of Penn State players come out of New Jersey. Have you had the chance to talk to anyone on the team now or anyone who went here about Penn State?

I actually had a conversation with Marcus Allen and Saeed Blacknall. Blacknall's been talking about Penn State a lot to me.

Do you have a top group yet?

I don't have a top group yet, but I have a couple schools that are high on my list. Penn State, UCLA, Boston College are the three right now.

Is there anyone else aside from that group that is recruiting you the hardest right now?

Pitt. Old Dominion just offered me the other day. NC State, Georgia Tech, and Nebraska.

Has Penn State's staff given you any indication of when they might offer you?

I talked to coach Terry Smith, and he basically said that the reason why they haven't offered me yet is because they feel like they don't know me good enough yet. So once they get to know me a little better, I think that's when they'll offer.

Do you talk with the coaches a lot, or was Junior Day your first extended interaction with them?

Since the new coaching staff, this was my first in person conversation with them. But I've been talking to a couple of coaches over twitter lately.
