MMQB: Favorite Super Bowl Ever?

Another Super Bowl is officially in the books.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Today's MMQB reflects on the greatest most hyped sporting event of the year. Of all the Super Bowls you have witnessed in your lifetime, which was your favorite?

I'll go with Super Bowl XXV because it really shaped the way I view the game of football. The Buffalo Bills were heavy favorites to defeat the New York Giants, who had slipped into the big game after an upset victory against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game. Buffalo had a high-powered offense that many believed the Giant simply could not keep up with. How did the Giants respond? By playing smash-mouth, ball-control offense and throwing everything they could at the Bills offense to keep them flustered for four quarters. The end result was a complete masterpiece as the Giants did the unthinkable by keeping Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed and company on the sideline as they put together 9-plus minute drives. The Bills still had a shot to win on the last play, but Scott Norwood's now infamous 49-yard field goal attempt sailed wide.

Thanks to this game, I'll forever have an appreciation for physical football games where teams need to fight for every yard, as opposed to the non-stop scoring where defense has no place. Thank you for that, Giants.
