National Signing Day 2014: Welcome To Penn State, Jason Cabinda

Despite a coaching change, the New Jersey linebacker stayed firm with his verbal commitment and is now officially a Nittany Lion.

@jasoncabinda: Signed and faxed!!!!! Was the first one in #official

@jasoncabinda: WOOOOO!!!!!! I'll be doing back handsprings getting out of bed to go to practice #PSUnrivaled

Fittingly, Penn State's most vocal cheerleader is the first to fax in for the Nittany Lions.

Jason Cabinda originally committed to Syracuse when it didn't appear that Penn State would have room to offer him a scholarship. Then, one-time PSU linebacker commit Jared Wangler switched his allegiance to Michigan after Brady Hoke offered him a scholarship. Already facing paper-thin depth at linebacker and with few reinforcements coming in for the Class of 2014, Bill O'Brien and his staff offered Cabinda, and it was only a matter of time before he did in fact, flip to PSU.

During the limbo period between O'Brien's departure for the Houston Texans and the eventual hiring of James Franklin, Jason was one of the more vocal members of the 2014 class who helped to keep it from falling apart and for that, he deserves a heavy dose of praise.
