National Signing Day 2014: Welcome to Penn State, Koa Farmer

The California native (and next gen LBUer, potentially) is officially a Nittany Lion.

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

One of the latest additions to the class, Farmer is a great addition brought to this class by James Franklin and, specifically, Farmer's head recruiter at PSU, Ricky Rahne, who had visited Farmer on the west coast right after Penn State offered. A Cal commit since October, Farmer flipped to the Nittany Lions after visiting in late January, and wants to pursue a doctorate in pathology at Penn State.

Recruited by most as a defensive back, Farmer projects in a sort of hybrid role for the Nittany Lions. A bit undersized at the moment, if he bulks up enough under Dwight Galt's tutelage, he could be Gerald Hodges 2.0; at the least, though, we could be looking at a Stephen Obeng-Agyapong 2013 sort of role. Either way, Farmer is incredibly athletic, and is a great pickup for this class--both on and off the field.
