National Signing Day 2014: Welcome to Penn State, Grant Haley

The defensive back with familial Penn State ties makes it official.

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

After attending junior days at various SEC schools, Haley committed to Vanderbilt over the summer, only to be one of the six recruits that flipped to Penn State when Coach James Franklin took over the Nittany Lion program this year. Unlike the other recruits, though, Haley has PSU ties, as his mother attended Penn State during the National Championship years in the '80s.

Haley is a speedster with quickness and strong instincts; he also reportedly is able to change directions on a dime, which is a boon for a cornerback. Still a little undersized (but no Moo-Moo level undersized), with the size of this recruiting class, Haley may look to redshirt this year if not forced into playing time directly.
