National Signing Day 2014: Welcome to Penn State, Amani Oruwariye

The safety is officially signed, and will become a Nittany Lion.

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

The last pre-signing day commit for this class, Oruwariye visited Penn State for the first time with fellow new commit Farmer and a slew of other members of the class of 2014--and that's all it took to commit to the Nittany Lions. A one-time Vanderbilt commit, he was one of six whom Coach Franklin flipped to PSU, and one of the first to publicly confirm receiving a Nittany Lion offer. after decommitting from Vanderbilt on January 15. Oruwariye helps fill a position of great need; the secondary has been scary thin for Penn State for a few years, and 2014 was on par to be no different--which is one of the reasons why, depending on how the class shakes out, there could be up to seven defensive backs in this class when all is said and done. After notching 47 tackles, four interceptions, nine PBUs and three blocked punts as a senior, Oruwariye could see time right away, especially on a special teams unit in serious need of an upgrade.
