Troy Reeder committed to Penn State back on February 26, 2013. So it's been some time. In speaking to him, he was certainly upset when Ron Vanderlinden decided to step down from his post at PSU. Coach Vanderlinden was one of the big reasons he came to Penn State in the first place, so Coach Franklin and Coach Pry did some solid work to keep him on board. It's a good thing too, because Reeder has the chance to be something special.
If you watch him film (linked below), you'll see that Reeder flies to the football. He plays with incredible instinct, and has a great knack for finding the quickest path to the ball. I have a feeling he will remind some Penn State fans of Michael Mauti, thanks to this killer instinct and his sure tackling. In fact, he was such a standout during his senior season at Salesianum (DE) this past season, that he was named Delaware's High School Defensive Player of the Year (You'll probably recognize the guy who won Offensive Player of the Year also.

Troy truly can do it all from the linebacker spot. He's big enough (6'2", 230 lbs) to make the big hit and eat up a blocker. He also possesses great speed for a linebacker, allowing him to chase down ball carriers. Troy seems destined to be Penn State's middle linebacker of the future, and could end up etching his name in with the all time greats if he can translate what he did in high school to college.
