The Tale:

Following the decommitment of Lloyd Tubman, the staff decided to extend an offer to Torrence Brown yesterday. Brown apparently didn't need much time to think about it because here he is on National Signing Day, committing to Penn State instead of his previous commitment, Southern Miss. Brown fills the now empty void of defensive ends in the 2014 class, as well as adds some more bulk to the defensive line in general (assuming that is where he ends up for the Lions). Brown likely would have been a much more highly-sought after recruit had he not torn his ACL for his junior year of high school.

As mentioned above, Torrence will fill the obvious void at defensive end, and is a very similar looking player to Lloyd Tubman. However, it's not entirely clear whether the staff views Brown as a defensive end or a pass-rushing outside linebacker. No matter where he ends up though, he should be a force pressuring the quarterback. He's quick off the ball, is very long, and possesses great athleticism. The staff should feel very good about being able to add Brown's name to the mix on the defensive side of the ball.
