DaQuan Jones Drafted By the Tennessee Titans 112th Overall

The defensive tackle gets taken in the fourth round.

Matthew O'Haren-USA TODAY Sports

The latest in a series of LJ-coached Penn State defensive linemen to be taken in the first half of the draft, Jones was selected in the first round of the last day of this year's draft by the Titans--no longer with a Penn Stater in the head coaching position, but by many accounts a steal in the fourth round.

By the time that DaQuan was drafted at 112th overall, he was in the top five of best players available by nearly every draft service. This was in part because he was a force for the Nittany Lions in 2013, notching 56 tackles (11.5 for loss) and three sacks. Despite an only okay performance at the NFL combine, he was mocked as high as a 2nd round pick by Mel Kiper before the draft kicked off on Thursday--most projected him in the third, not fourth, round.

Jones fought through double (and triple) teams much of the season, and was part of a line that got better as the year went on. He was named BSD's MVP of the Eastern Michigan game, and as Devon wrote earlier this week, he's likely to have a long and productive career in the NFL.

From all of us at BSD and Nittany Nation, congratulations, DaQuan, and best of luck in Nashville!
