Carl Nassib enters this season as one of Penn State's backup defensive ends. It's not entirely clear what the depth chart will look like come Ireland just yet, but don't be surprised to see Nassib work his way into the game from time to time. After not getting onto the field during his redshirt freshman season, he was able to make an impact as a redshirt sophomore. In limited time, Carl picked up 12 tackles, two of which were for a loss. He also had a sack and a pass defended (pictured above).
If his family is any indication, Nassib will make an impact before he moves on from Penn State. His older brother, Ryan Nassib, had a very successful career at Syracuse, and is now Eli Manning's backup on the New York Giants. Hopefully we see Carl use some good old fashion sibling rivalry motivation to work his way into a starting role for the Nittany Lions. O'Brien frequently named Nassib as a player to watch during his time as the boss, so time will tell if Franklin feels the same way about the former walk on.
