The Tale:

Jonathan has turned into one of the fastest rising players in recent weeks, picking up offers from Clemson, Georgia, and defending national champion Florida State just hours before verbally committing to Penn State.

He first visited PSU back in November, but did not pick up his Nittany Lion offer until early March. He made the trip up to Happy Valley on Friday with now fellow PSU commit Adam McLean, as well as Class of 2016 QB, and high school teammate Dwayne Haskins, 2016 WR Trevon Diggs (who holds a PSU offer), and 2015 athlete William Jackson. As James Franklin and his staff has shown, getting a prospect on campus has been huge, and they of course picked up the verbal earlier this afternoon.

Outlook:

From the time Holland picked up his offer back in March, he seemed to be favoring the Nittany Lions, but just wanted to get to campus to visit with the staff and see more of the program. A close friendship with MacLean has not hurt either.

Jonathan does not have the star power of some of the other members of the Class of 2015, but it does not take long to come away impressed with his ability.  He already has the big 6'5" frame to put on significant size, and a very good first step, not to mention that 4.8-4.9 speed. At just 225 pounds, he uses that speed more than strength at the high school level, but once Dwight Galt gets him in the weight room, and Sean Spencer gets him on the practice field, that will almost certainly change.

Holland could very well wrap up PSU's class at defensive end, joining Ryan Buchholz, and fellow Maryland native Kamonte Carter as likely DEs at the college level.
