Which Saturday morning cartoon was best? garrylovesnathalie
I lost interest in children's cartoons at a very young age, so I have a small sample size. Once I saw The Simpsons and Seinfeld, there was no looking back. I was really into Garfield and Friends, Pro Stars and Captain Planet though. I remember yearning for a Calvin and Hobbes cartoon which never came, which probably also contributed to me losing interest in Saturday morning cartoons. Although they weren't animated, Saved by the Bell and Inside Stuff also were an important part of my Saturday morning routine.
Does the fact that Freddie Mercury was dying of AIDS-related complications and was so physically weak that could barely stand up at the time Make The Show Must Go On the most amazing vocal performance of all time? Important to remember: 1) Freddie could barely hit any high notes during demos, to the point that Queen (particularly Brian May) didn’t believe he could perform this song. 2) Straight from Wikipedia: "when the time came to record the vocals, Mercury consumed a measure of vodka and said "I’ll fucking do it, darling!" then proceeded to perform the vocal line in one take without problems." Bill
I'm convinced that some people were just touched by a supreme being to give them explainable talents. Albert Einstein, Jimi Hendrix, Bo Jackson, and of course Freddie Mercury belongs on the list. Although I claim Otis Redding as my favorite singer of all time, no one comes close to the sheer talent of Mercury.
Seriously, who can perform like this?
Raisianettes are my jam. My candy jam. Besides being so damn tasty, you can also convince yourself you're being somewhat healthy, even when you gobble down an oversized movie theater box as a late-night snack.
Who would win in a fight involving the members of the BSD staff? Dbridi
Galen. He's a former wrestler and still looks like he do some damage, even at the ripe old age of 41. I also think Cari would be a strong contender. Although she may lack upper body strength, she's also the most feared person at BSD (Cari, I mean that in the nicest way possible). If we were going Royal Rumble style, I think Bill would be the winner. He would pull off something cheap by being the last person in the ring, then hitting people with chairs and tossing them over the ropes once everyone is well past the point of exhaustion.
Football is still 3 months away hockey is winding down and wrestling season is well past with a few occasional events here and there. What the hell am I supposed to watch on TV? Success With Honor Always
Veep. It's just an absolutely brilliant show that not enough people watch. It moves incredibly fast and has an amazing cast. I'm towards the end of the third season and I have yet to see an episode that didn't make me laugh from start to finish.
Why do people like baseball? misdreavus79
I honestly can't tell you. I have nothing against it personally, it just doesn't do anything for me. It just seems to move incredibly slow, and the season is so damn long I don't understand how you can care about what's happening until the very end of the season. Even when I attend games I'm usually more interested in the concession stands.
If you could change or add one rule to any sport, what would it be and why? trizani83
I would award more points for closer field goals. Something like 45-plus yards is two points, 21-44 is three points and inside the red zone is four points. People usually look at me like I have tentacles growing out of my forehead when I share this idea, but it would make the game so much more exciting. Every game would be like 2012 with constant fourth-down attempts. I've always had an issue with kickers coming off the sideline to determine the outcome of a game, even thought they only played a handful of plays all day. The whole point of the game is to get the ball as far as possible into the opposing territory, so why not reward teams for doing so?
Thin, NY style crust or puffy, crappy crust pizza? BMAN13
I love NY style, but I'm an equal-opportunity pizza enthusiast. I don't really understand the pizza wars. It's nearly universally delicious (except you, Dominoes), so shouldn't it be the one thing which doesn't divide us?
Are you going to do that hidden gems series again? Maybe my favorite thing ever on BSD. speedonmike
We haven't discussed it much, but I'm sure there are plenty of options we didn't cover last year. If enough people mention it in the comments we'll likely have to revisit it. Whoever came up with the idea for that series must be a genius, amirite?
Is there a better granola bar than Nature Valley Oats ’n Honey? speedonmike
Yes. Any granola bar that doesn't leave a pile of crumbs on your lap.
