Coming into Happy Valley last Summer out of the Philadelphia area's Germantown Academy, Julian Moore was lauded for his athleticism, particularly for being 6'10." However, it was no secret that his skinny frame needed to do some serious bulking up in order to compete effectively in college basketball's toughest conference. Despite that though, Moore did end up coming off the bench to play in several games during the non-conference slate, even garnering a career-high four points and six rebounds in the rout over Longwood.
Unfortunately for Julian, his freshman campaign came to an abrupt end when he suffered a broken nose during a mid-December practice, sidelining him for the remainder of the season. Having seen scant game action this past season, Julian applied for a medical redshirt and tonight, his application was approved. Thus, he will enter the 2014-2015 campaign with freshman eligibility.
It's also noted in the GoPSUSports.com press release that Julian has put on a good 20 pounds of muscle in the offseason, which should help him become a more regular member of Pat Chambers' rotation. Let's just hope that the basketball gods have been appeased enough to spare his nose and other easily breakable body parts from further injury.
