Out of all the linebackers to ever come through Penn State - your Dennis Onkotzes, your Shane Conlans, your LaVar Arringtons and your Paul Poslusznys - perhaps none have achieved, and I use this term endearingly, the cult hero status of Michael Mauti. As awesome as his play on the field was in Blue and White, he'll always be remembered as one of the men that stood up in the immediate wake of the NCAA sanctions and refused to let the program wither away:
