All-American linebacker Dan Connor wore number 40 beginning his freshman season, but he’s not the only one. The alternative title to this post was Only Nikki Bowser until Penn State Football because I, too, have been wearing a number 40 jersey to Beaver Stadium for nearly a decade. However, Connor’s stats are slightly more impressive than my own so we'll stick with this. As a sophomore Connor started at linebacker for the White Out win over Ohio State, a game in which he made 12 tackles, including one sack. Connor went on to lead the Nittany Lions in tackles against Florida State in the Orange Bowl victory later that season. As a senior he took the number one spot from Paul Posluszny on the career tackles list.
In 2008 Connor was drafted in the third round by the Carolina Panthers. Connor bounced around to the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants from 2012-2013 before being re-signed by the Panthers last fall.
40 days until Penn State football.
