Punt returner and free safety Jesse Della Valle proved his worth in 2012 during his junior season on special teams. He was number three in the Big Ten for punt returns and played in every game on special teams and defense. As a senior Della Valle continued to impress on the field and earned his starting position at safety while improving his punt return average to nearly nine yards per return. Della Valle had a career-high nine tackles in his first start at safety against Ohio State in 2013. He’s currently listed second on the depth chart behind senior safety Adrian Amos.
