Brad Bars committed to Penn State as part of the vaunted class of 2010, a three-star defensive end out of Nashville, Tennessee. He redshirted his first season in Happy Valley, and saw limited time the next two years on special teams. Arguably his biggest career play came in Joe Paterno's final victory when Bars blocked a punt against Illinois in the fourth quarter, which set up a field goal and led to the eventual snowy win.
Bars' career has been marred by injury. He missed the first few games of 2012 with a leg injury, but did register some playing time later on in the season. Leading up to the 2013 season, last July he ruptured his achilles tendon and ultimately missed that entire year rehabbing from the injury; this year, though, he's poised to make a comeback.
Though the starting defensive end spots look to be locked down by Deion Barnes and C.J. Olaniyan, Bars will undoubtedly be a major part of the two deep of Sean Spencer's defensive front.
