Much respect to sophomore corner Jordan Smith and true freshman receiver Chris Godwin, both of whom have bright futures ahead of them. But it's Monday, August 18th, it's 12 days before Penn State football, and that means that the player we profile today is former Nittany Lions cornerback (and friend of Black Shoe Diaries) Stephon Morris (@S_Morris12)!
Morris, a product of the DC Metro area, arrived in Happy Valley in 2009 and made an immediate impact, contributing more than any other true freshman in his class, and starting the regular season finale against Michigan State. He continued to progress throughout his career, completing his senior season as a consensus All-Big Ten Honorable Mention performer. What Morris provided most for Penn State, though, wasn't strong cover skills. During both his junior and senior years, Stephon Morris was a vocal leader, inspiring his teammates (and the rest of his university) to give their all and represent the university well during its most difficult times. For that, Stephon, you'll always be remembered with the other legendary number 12's in Nittany Lion lore - 2005 quarterback Michael Robinson and 1994 quarterback Kerry Collins.
