The junior cornerback earned PSU's first weekly honor of the year on defense

Happy Birthday to Trevor Williams! The Baltimore native turned his 2 interception, 5 tackle performance in Saturday night's 13-10 victory over BTPR into quite the birthday present, earning the Big 10's Defensive Player of the Week honors today.

The two interceptions were of part of 5 turned in by the PSU defense, in another dominating performance, holding BTPR to just 294 yards of offense, with just 95 of those coming in the second half.  Williams joins Sam Ficken (Special Teams vs. UCF) and DaeSean Hamilton (Freshman vs. UCF) as weekly honorees for PSU this season.  This is Penn State's first defensive player of the week award since C.J. Olaniyan earned the honor after last year's Michigan game.

Saturday's performance and this honor will hopefully serve as a springboard for Williams heading into the rest of the season, as PSU has at times struggled to find a cornerback opposite Jordan Lucas.

Congratulations to Trevor, and Happy Birthday!

This week's other B1G award winners:

Offense/Freshman - J.T. Barrett, Ohio State

Special Teams - De'Mornay Pierson-El, Nebraska
