The Tale:

A year ago tomorrow, Nick Bowers committed to Paul Chryst and the Pitt Panthers. 364 days later, during an in-home visit with James Franklin, the top-ranked tight end in the Pennsylvania class of 2015 flipped that commitment to the Nittany Lions. This is, indeed, our state.

Bowers was a player PSU was very much interested in after a 7 on 7 camp visit in July, but with limited scholarship numbers, they did not offer until September, when the full allotment of scholarships was restored. Nick was on campus for the Ohio State game in October, and after what was apparently a great official visit in Happy Valley this weekend, he gave Coach Franklin the good news in person.

Outlook:

Bowers is going to be joined by Jonathan Holland at tight end when they both arrive on campus in June. With the return of Adam Breneman from a 2014 knee injury -- along with Kyle Carter, and Mike Gesicki -- it would appear likely that Bowers is on track to redshirt, while adding size and strength to his 6'4" frame.

When he does see the field, Bowers is a very talented pass catcher, as he spent time split out as a receiver at Kittanning. Bowers also has the body to be able to put his hand in the dirt and block, something John Donovan's offense asks from their tight ends.

Welcome to Penn State, Nick!
