Carl Nassib's storybook senior season continued today, earning a spot on ESPN.com's Midseason All-American team. Through just seven games, Nassib has amassed 11.5 sacks, 16.5 tackls for loss, 5 forced fumbles, and an interception. Those 11.5 sacks are the most in a season for any Penn State player since Aaron Maybin had 12 in the 2008 season, which of course came over a full 12 game regular season and bowl game. If you're curious about all time records, that would be 15, once by Larry Kubin in 1979, and again in 2002 by Michael Haynes. Courtney Brown had 13.5 in 1999, and Maurice Evans totaled 12.5 in the 2007 season.
Nassib joins fellow defensive lineman Austin Johnson on the All-B1G game. Johnson ranks third on the defense with 40 stops, including 7.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. Oh, and the most gorgeous fat man touchdown you will see this season.
