PENN STATE HOOPS BACK. The Lions open their season today against VMI and coach Dan Earl, who returns to his old stomping grounds after spending over 12 years in State College as both a player and assistant coach. The Nittany Lions are looking to avoid the same opening game fates as Wisconsin and Illinois, both of whom dropped their home openers against low-major programs Western Illinois and North Florida, respectively.
Today marks the debut of touted freshman Josh Reaves, who was announced as an opening day starter during Pat Chambers' press conference this week. He'll join Shep Garner, Payton Banks, Brandon Taylor and Jordan Dickerson in the starting five. They'll be tasked with keeping VMI from getting easy baskets in transition - the Keydets are known for their blazing pace, and limiting their simple looks will give Penn State the best chance at success.
As usual with our open threads, please refrain from posting any illegal streams of the game. This is one of two Penn State games this month that is exclusively on BTN Plus, the BTN's subscription streaming service, so please resist the temptation to share an illicit stream in the comments. We like having a functional website. New this year, however, is GoPSUSports' free radio stream of Steve Jones and Dick Jerardi. Please feel free to share this as much as you want!
Also as usual, play nice with your internet friends and do not post anything NSFW.
Tipoff is at 1 p.m. Glad to be back, y'all.
