Penn State Football Welcomes its Early Enrollees for the Class of 2016

The first members of the 2016 class are official.

On Friday night, Penn State officially welcomed its first members of the 2016 recruiting class, as the four early enrollees become Nittany Lions. Pro-style quarterback Jake Zembiec, offensive tackle Alex Gellerstedt, center Connor McGovern and tight end Danny Dalton all officially graduated high school early to embark on their collegiate careers early.

Zembiec (Rochester, NY) comes to Penn State as a three-star recruit, the No. 1 player in New York and the No. 17 pro-style quarterback. He participated in the Elite 11 camp at The Opening this past summer, and was recently named the Gatorade New York Player of the Year. According to the official Penn State press released, he comes to Penn State as 6'3" and 202 pounds.

Danny Dalton begins his Penn State career as a three-star recruit, the No. 18 tight end in the country, and the No. 1 player in the state of the Massachusetts. 247Sports is even higher on Dalton, ranking as the No. 8 tight end and a four-star prospect. Dalton will participate in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl on January 3, 2016.

Alex Gellerstedt is one of the more intriguing prospects on the board for Penn State in 2016. He comes to Penn State very raw, but has a huge frame and a ton of untapped potential. He also attended high school at Dublin Coffman (Oh.) which is an excellent place in which to have a foot in the door. He is rated as a three-star recruit and the No. 74 offensive tackle overall, but was named to the All-Ohio high school team, along with several other big-time Division 1 recruits.

Finally, the most frequent visitor to Happy Valley, Connor McGovern, is officially a Nittany Lion. McGovern, who is the No. 3 rated center in the country and the No. 264 recruit overall. He visited Penn State for every home game this past season, and is primed to challenge for a spot on the two-deep depth chart right away. McGovern will participate in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on January 9, 2016.

Congratulations to Jake, Danny, Alex and Connor, and welcome (officially) to Penn State!
