Committany Nation (12.15.15): 2017 Rankings, Danny Dalton, Tre Nixon, Miles Sanders, and More

This week is jam packed with recruiting links for your enjoyment.

2017's Rankings

Oh my stars, Penn State's 2017 class may end up being really, really, REALLY good. Rivals released its brand new top-100 on Monday afternoon, and here's the list of Penn State targets in the group:

  • DE Josh Kaindoh (No. 2 overall, five stars)
  • OT Isaiah Wilson (No. 3 overall, five stars)
  • DB Lamont Wade (No. 6 overall, five stars)
  • RB D'Andre Swift (No. 32 overall, four stars)
  • RB Anthony McFarland (No. 36 overall, four stars)
  • DB Paris Ford (No. 39 overall, four stars, committed to Pitt)
  • DT Fred Hansard (No. 89 overall, four stars)
  • LB David Adams (No. 98 overall, four stars)
So, ya know, #DoWorkJames and all that because sweet America that is a stacked list of guys. Even pulling in one of the five-star guys and two of the four-star guys would be huge, so, again, #DoWorkJames.

REMINDER: Miles Sanders said this

Miles Sanders ain't goin' nowhere. The world is a beautiful place.

Jake Zembiec Takes In Beaver Stadium

The young guns who are enrolling early visited Happy Valley over the weekend. The group consisted of four guys: QB Jake Zembiec, OC Connor McGovern, OT Alex Gellerstedt, and TE Danny Dalton. One thing that apparently happened was a view of Beaver Stadium from one of the luxury boxes, which Zembiec enjoyed, presumably because while he was in the box, they decided to project his image on the jumbotrons.

Danny Dalton and His New OC

As it turns out, Joe Moorhead knows at least one of the young men who he will coach in Happy Valley. According to Scout, Dalton and Moorhead know each other because one of Dalton's cousins, former Rams OL and ex-assistant coach Tim Donahue, played under Moorhead in the Bronx. Definitely read the entire story, but here's the money quote, which gives you a good look at the kind of guy Penn State is getting in its new offensive coordinator.

On a personal level, Dalton has a ton of respect for Moorhead. Donahue suffered a neck injury at Fordham, and it ended his playing career.

"Coach Moorehead honored his scholarship and he let my cousin stay on the football team and he became an assistant strength and conditioning coach and an assistant offensive line coach," Dalton said. "What he did for my cousin and my family, we’ll never be able to repay him for that. The fact he is going to be my coach now is cool considering everything."

I like this Moorhead fella a lot already.

Jersey Boys

It's been said a number of times, but Penn State commit Michael Dwumfour and uncommitted monster Rashan Gary are best friends. Sadly it doesn't look like that means that Gary's coming to Happy Valley, but the two are still tight. So much so that even when they are honored, they are honored together, because friendship is a really good thing.

Going to Play for James Franklin...'s Old Team

One of the more under-the-radar commitments in this class popped up on Sunday, when it was announced that four-star Tennessee defensive back Joejuan Williams would head to Vanderbilt.

WIlliams is the No. 192 player in the nation, according to his 247 Composite Score. While he's going somewhere other than Happy Valley, we wish him nothing but the best of luck at Vandy. Anchor Down.

Tre Nixon Speaks

One of the more fascinating recruitments during this cycle has been that of four-star Florida wide receiver Tre Nixon. Every time it looks like Nixon is on the verge of committing, he just...doesn't. He's seemingly attracted interest from every major university in the country, but he's cut his list down to four schools: Florida, Georgia, Penn State, and Texas A&M. Bud Elliott from the Mothership caught up with Nixon after the 7A State Championship Game last week, and Nixon broke down where he's at right now.

Now, do consider that I am inherently biased in this endeavor, but Nixon should commit to Penn State, imo.
