Unless you live under a rock, you know by now that the Penn State Nittany Lions are set to take on the Georgia Bulldogs in the TaxSlayer Bowl. This year's TaxSlayer Bowl (formerly known as the Gator Bowl) will take place in Jacksonville, Fl. on January 2, 2016 and will kick off at noon, ET. The game will be played at the home of Penn State NFL South (the Jacksonville Jaguars), EverBank Field.
It became clear about a week ago that this was the likely destination for Penn State, and it was just a matter of whether their opponent would be Georgia or LSU. Previously, the other most popular option was the Music City Bowl, which takes place in Nashville, Tn. Going to Nashville would have represented an option a little bit closer to Pennsylvania, and by default, more Penn State fans, as well as allowing for the narrative of James Franklin and the coaching staff returning to their previous home (Vanderbilt is located in Nashville).
There's a lot to like about the TaxSlayer Bowl, however, especially the opponent. It will be the first time the Nittany Lions and Bulldogs have met on the field since the 1983 Sugar Bowl, when Penn State won its first National Championship.
So what do you think? Are you happy about Penn State's bowl game situation? Would a different option have made you happier? Why?
