Another new offer, and plenty of visits as the staff closes out the last open period of 2015 with a bang.

There are only a few days left before the recruiting dead period that runs nearly a month, and Penn State's coaching staff has been on the road all over the country visiting both the committed prospects for the Class of 2016, but also the few remaining targets, and the early targets in the Class of 2017.

Home Visits

Twitter has been ablaze with pictures of the staff's visits with players for the last week.

Bob Shoop dropped in on Clearfield WR Ryan Lezzer, a rising star in the Class of 2017

James Franklin and Sean Spencer dropped in on 4-star 2016 DT commit Ellison Jordan

The head coach and Coach Chaos were up to check in on 3-star TE commit Danny Dalton as well

Linebacker coach Brent Pry hit Philly and said hello to 3-star LB commit Shaka Toney

Finally, Terry Smith and Bob Shoop dropped in on Central Catholic's Damar Hamlin.

Brendan Ferns Update

Ferns' recruitment went relatively dormant during his senior season at St. Clairesville High School in Ohio. But with the season in the books, the 4-star middle linebacker is looking at the next stage in his football career. Steve Wiltfong's story at 247 is premium content, but his tweet sheds some light on the next steps for Brendan.

Brandon McIlwain Finalizing Visits

With Will Muschamp officially on board at South Carolina, expect the Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year to move quickly in determining whether to stick with the Gamecocks. Brandon confirmed to Black Shoe Diaries that he will be visiting South Carolina to meet the new staff in Columbia. He also told BSD that there is not enough time before the dead period begins to make a return visit to Happy Valley. Brandon still intends to enroll in college next month, so expect this to be decided in the next couple of weeks.

In case you missed it last week, Nick had a chance to catch up with one of the top dual threat QBs in the country.

New Offer

2017 is of course shaping up to be a huge class for Penn State, and offers continue to go out to some of the nation's best. On Saturday, 3-star TE Logan Rudolph out of Rock Hill, SC earned an offer from the Nittany Lions.
