The Tale:

James Franklin really likes flipping Pitt commits to Penn State. Last week, Franklin and co. got three-star tight end Nick Bowers to decommit from Pat Narduzzi and join the Nittany Lions. Today, Franklin convinced three-star linebacker Kevin Givens that he should do the same, as the Altoona native jumped from the Panthers to the Nittany Lions.

Based on his timeline, Givens has been on Penn State's radar for some time, dating back to when Franklin's staff was just coming in to Happy Valley. Things cooled off when the Altoona native committed to Pitt in February of 2014, but he took an unofficial visit to PSU in November, and now he is a Nittany Lion. Also:

I have no idea what Gattis is talking about, but it sounds like Pitt isn't exactly playing nice in recruiting. One last thing: PSU has 10 of the top 16 2015 recruits in Pennsylvania. In the immortal words of Mel Brooks, it's good to be the king.

Outlook:

It's a bit hard to get a read on Givens, considering he committed to Pitt for so long, but linebacker was certainly a position that Penn State could have bolstered with this class. Up until Givens' commitment, PSU only had two linebacker commits in this class in Manny Bowen and Jake Cooper. Whether or not Givens turns into the next Michael Mauti remains to be seen, but at the very least, getting a commitment from the PA native is a good way to add some depth to a position that needed a little.

Odds are, Givens won't need to play right away, but he is huge at 6'2', 245 lbs. and is pretty quick for his size, as he runs a 4.6 second 40-yard dash. He also plays some running back at Altoona and lines up at defensive end on defense. He certainly has the athleticism to make an impact in Happy Valley, we'll just likely have to wait a little before he plays.

With this commitment, Penn State's 2015 class is complete with 25 players. Here's everyone:

You can follow Kevin on Twitter dot com at @Kittykev. At the very least, he has the best handle of any player who has committed to Penn State.

Welcome to Penn State, Kevin!
