The 2015 Penn State football season will kickoff live on ESPN at 3:30 pm, it was announced today. The game, which head coach Jame Franklin has previously called the "eighth home game" on the Nittany Lions' schedule due to its location in Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field, is the fifth announced time so far for the season.
The home opener, a week later against Buffalo, is slated for noon. A week after that, Penn State will take on Big Ten Powerhouse Rutgers under the lights on BTN, in what will be a "stripe out" of Beaver Stadium. The Nittany Lions' October 17 game at Ohio State is also a night game, and Homecoming against Indiana (October 10) is also a noon game.
Last year, Penn State overwhelmed Temple 30-13 with perhaps its most complete offensive game of the year to become bowl eligible. This season, the Owls return all of their defensive starters from a top-50 defense and should provide a good test for Franklin and Co the first week of the season.
