Lasch Bash

For those of you that are unaware, the Lasch Bash is quickly becoming one of the premiere recruiting events in the Big Ten, along with Ohio State's famous Friday Night Lights. As Penn State's national recruiting footprint continues to grow, this event becomes more and more famous. The visitor list for the upcoming weekend is star-studded, to say the very least. For more on these visitors, check out Steve Wiltfong's article over on Lions247. And to see a full list of visitors for the weekend, check out Sean Fitz's list.

Needless to say, the list is quite impressive. Before the obvious question of "who's going to commit" is asked, I'll give you my predictions. I think that when all is said and done this weekend, there will be three new verbal commitments for Penn State. One of them will be 2017 OL Robert Hainsey. Hainsey has one of the strongest relationships with the staff out of any current prospect, having grown up preparing to play for Coach Terry Smith at Gateway High School. I expect him to join Sean Clifford in the 2017 class.

I also expect to see two new additions to the 2016 class in the way of linebackers. I believe that two of Shaka Toney, Cameron Brown and Aaron Hansford will join #DaPride16. In an effort to continue to prematurely answer questions, no, this will not freeze Brendan Ferns out of a scholarship spot. Toney, Brown and Hansford are all more in the outside linebacker mold, while Ferns is one of the best inside linebacker prospects in the country. Things will get very interesting though, for a guy like Aaron Hansford, who is one of the better linebacker prospects, if Toney and Brown both commit.

It will be an interesting weekend with a lot of interesting names to watch for. Be sure to check back to BSD throughout the weekend to keep up to date on any potential new future Nittany Lions.

Official Visitors

Along with visiting this weekend, Top247 ATH Jordan Fuller has made his intentions clear to use an official visit to see Penn State once more. Fuller is very high on the Nittany Lions, and they'll be in the race for his services until the very end. Early on, Fuller said that he was being recruited as a defensive back by Penn State, but it's not clear if that is still the plan. Fuller is more of a "sign him up and figure out a position later" kind of talent, regardless.

Also of note, is another future official visitor.

That is 4* CB and current Florida commit, Chauncey Gardner. Gardner committed to Florida back in mid-March, but has still continued to pick up scholarship offers since then. He'll make his way to State College as his second-to-last visit, for the Michigan game, which is both a night game and a whiteout, will surely be quite the recruiting destination that weekend.

That's all for today. Apologies for this coming later in the day, but I'm packing up for the Outer Banks. Matt will be around tomorrow to answer questions about anything that's going on, so try to direct those questions to him. It's time to find out if my vacations are good omens for Penn State recruiting.
