Only Jonathan Holland Until Penn State Football

Eight. Teen. Days.

Jonathan Holland is proof that recruiting rankings aren't always accurate representations of how highly sought after certain players should be. If you were looking at rankings, Holland should have been an afterthought: he was the No. 538 recruit in America in the class of 2015, according to 247's Composite Ranking (247, in fact, had him as the 884th best prospect in the country, surprisingly).

However, Holland's offer sheet was amazing. The Maryland native had offers from Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, and West Virginia, among other schools. This is because all of these schools, plus Penn State, saw that Holland is a talented guy who can make an impact on either side of the ball as a defensive end or a tight end.

Holland ultimately decided that he wanted to play on the offensive side of the ball in college. Coming in at 6-foot-4, 240 lbs., Holland looks the part of a big, bruising tight end, and with Penn State's loaded depth chart, he can absolutely redshirt if the staff wants. Unfortunately, barring something unforeseen, it doesn't look like Holland will ever play in college with his high school teammate and star QB recruit Dwayne Haskins – who is next to Holland on the right in the picture above – but he'll certainly get the chance to play with plenty of talented quarterbacks in Happy Valley.
