For the first time in the history of Penn State University and the University of Idaho, the two schools will play a football game against each other. PSU announced the news earlier today that the Lions and Vandals will open the 2019 season on August 31st in Beaver Stadium.
This marks the second of 3 non-conference games for Penn State in the 2019 season, with the Lions hosting 5B two weeks later. That meeting, incidentally, is the final of the 4 scheduled games with the Panthers.
Here are some things to know about Idaho Vandals football:
- They currently play in the Sun Belt Conference.
- Their current coach, Paul Petrino, has a glowing 2-20 record in Moscow. He also might have an anger management issue.
- The Vandals play their home games in the 16,000 seat Kibbie Dome. Sadly, the turf is a normal green color, unlike their neighbors in Boise.
With the Big 10 going to nine conference games, just 1 non-conference opponent remains on the 2019 schedule. Additionally, that season sees the B1G East play 5 road games in conference, so it figures whoever fills out that September 7th opening will be traveling to Happy Valley.
