We have only 32 days until the Nittany Lions kick off the 2015 football season against the Temple Owls in Philadelphia, and that means that linebacker Jack Haffner is our featured player on the countdown!
Haffner, an All-State selection and finalist for Pennsylvania's Mr. Football as a senior at State College Area High School, "ran on" to the Nittany Lions as a running back under former head coach Bill O'Brien. After redshirting the 2012 campaign, Haffner contributed heavily on special teams and was named to the Academic All-Big Ten squad.
Now, as a junior, Haffner and fellow former walk-on running back Adam Geiger, have moved to linebacker to ensure they get more time to practice their tackling form. The goal? For Haffner to be a "special teams terror." Jack Haffner as the next Ethan Kilmer? Sure, I'll take that.
Good luck this year, Jack!
