YAY HOOPS: Penn State vs. No. 5 Michigan State Basketball Open Thread

The Nittany Lions hope to build on their first Big Ten win by upsetting Sparty.

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

The Penn State Nittany Lions men's basketball team is back at it Sunday afternoon, with a home tilt against the Michigan State Spartans. Tom Izzo has another excellent team this season, currently ranked 5th in the nation. For those keeping track at home, this is the second top-five opponent Penn State has played in its last four games.

The best player on Sparty is Denzel Valentine, a do-it-all wing player who could be the best college player in the country. However, he is a gametime decision and will only play if his knee feels good after warmups. The line on the game is Michigan State -10, and it's only that low because of the uncertainty with regards to Valentine. Between Valentine (assuming he plays) and sharpshooter Bryn Forbes, Michigan State could take control of this game very early. To find out more about the Spartans, check out Noel's preview here.

The game is airing on the Big Ten Network at noon. As always with open threads, no illegal streams, no politics, no pornography, and no douchebaggery.

Let's go (Penn) State.
