YAY HOOPS: Penn State vs. Minnesota Basketball Open Thread

Penn State's first home conference game is the most winnable one in the early going.

Derik Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The Penn State Nittany Lions men's basketball team takes on the Minnesota Golden Gophers tonight in the Big Ten conference home opener at the Bryce Jordan Center. The game will start at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.

Penn State is 9-6 on the season and 0-2 in Big Ten play. Those losses both came on the road, with the former against a Maryland team currently ranked third in the nation. Penn State hung tough in that game but could not hold on to a 13-point lead as freshman star Diamond Stone bullied the Nittany Lion frontcourt. The team did not bounce back from that tough loss against Michigan, getting smoked in transition defense and allowing too many open looks to an excellent shooting Wolverine team.

Tonight, the team faces off against Minnesota. Chad previewed the game earlier today, check that out to get up-to-speed on Richard Pitino's squad. Let's go State.
