Basketball season is coming up fast, and with media days happening this week the news cycle is picking up. You’re going to be hearing a lot this year about the trio of incoming freshmen from Roman Catholic in Philadelphia: Tony Carr, Lamar Stevens, and Nazeer Bostick. This group includes some of the highest pedigree recruits for Penn State hoops, and they are eager to bring success to State College. Like the football team, this squad is very young. Having no seniors on the team means some of the younger players will have to step up, especially with the rising expectations.
If you missed it, check out BSD’s own recap of Pat Chambers’ comments from yesterday.
In Football news, James Franklin is using the bye week to find a replacement for Andrew Nelson at OT. Redshirt sophomore Noah Beh won’t be factoring in due to a violation of team rules. Additionally, Franklin is taking advantage of the bye giving younger players and non-travel players extended reps in scrimmages at practice. Singled out by Franklin were freshman OT Will Fries, who is prepared to burn his redshirt and play aginst Ohio State if necessary next weekend; and fellow freshman, QB Jake Zembiec.
Quite possibly the highlight of the week for Penn State fans was Matt McGloin’s appearance at WWE Raw on Monday night. He even showed up with his own championship belt!
