Committany Nation: Micah Parsons Transfers, Defensive Tackles, And Much More

A lot of “big ugly” talk this week on the ‘crootin trail.

Welcome back to Committany Nation! As always, if you have any questions or (mean) comments, feel free to tweet me at @PatKoerbler.

Micah Parsons Transfers From Central Dauphin To Harrisburg

In one of the all-around more unfortunate situations, Penn State five-star commit Micah Parsons has transferred to Harrisburg from Central Dauphin following a suspension for “inciting a riot”, according to this PennLive article.

While his father denies that Parsons started a riot, there was obviously some kind of situation that unfolded, apparently stemming from this photo with a racial slur that was posted on Instagram by Central Dauphin students.

From a strictly recruiting standpoint, the move to Harrisburg shouldn’t affect Parsons’ commitment to the Nittany Lions. Current Penn State commit Damion Barber plays at Harrisburg, and it sounds like the Harrisburg coaching staff has a good relationship with James Franklin.

DT Tommy Christ (No Relation To Jesus) Lands Penn State Offer

The Nittany Lions are still without a defensive tackle commitment in this cycle, but have put their hat in the race for current Virginia commit Tommy Christ.

Committing to Virginia in April, Christ’s senior film has obviously caught the eye of a number of high programs, with the 6-foot-5, 255-pound defensive tackle landing offers from Ole Miss and Penn State within the last couple weeks. It remains to be seen if he’s open to taking visits.

Donovan Jeter Decommits From Notre Dame, Will Probably End Up At Pitt

Well, the first shoe dropped for Notre Dame recruiting wise, as WPIAL DT Donovan Jeter decommitted from the Irish just a month after making his original pledge.

Jeter was going to officially visit the Nittany Lions before making a commitment to Notre Dame, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see Penn State get that visit at some point. Regardless, it’s most likely that Jeter will end up at Pitt unless Notre Dame can turn around things in a hurry.

Penn State Is In Ben Hutch’s Final Three

Staying with the defensive tackles, the Nittany Lions are in Tennessee DT Ben Hutch’s final three.

As has been discussed, pulling Hutch from Louisville or Texas A&M will be quite the challenge. Highly doubtful he ends up in Happy Valley.

Derrek Pitts Stays Home, Commits To West Virginia

Former Penn State commit Derrek Pitts ended his recruitment for a second time, this time picking his home state school, the West Virginia Mountaineers.

With just Jonathan Sutherland committed, the Nittany Lions remain in search of another safety to add to their 2017 class.

Ohio State Visitors

Sean Fitz of Lions247 has a VIP list ($) of potential visitors for the “Whiteout Game.” Spoiler Alert: a lot of talent scheduled to be in Happy Valley.

Also, checkout this video from Greg Pickel of PennLive where he talks about some of the visitors expected on campus this weekend.
