Black Shoe Degenerates Is Hanging By A Thread

A bad week overall, but a Nittany Lion win made it all better.

NCAA Football: Virginia at Connecticut David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Last week was terrible. After a 1-3 outing, I’m left holding for dear life at a record oner .500, but the one win was the only one that mattered. For those of you who didn’t listen to me and took Penn State straight up, congratulations, you’re rich. With that out of the way, let’s dive right in.

The Picks

UConn +7 @ East Carolina - UConn isn’t a world beater by any stretch of the imagination, but I don’t know that they’re a touchdown underdog against an East Carolina team with two wins on the season (granted, one of them is against NC State), and blowout losses to pretty much everyone else.

Pitt/Virginia Tech OVER 57 - Pitt’s defense can’t stop anything to save their lives, but their offense seems to have no problems scoring. Neither does Virginia Tech’s. I can easily see both of these teams scoring in the 20s, with one (or both) getting just above the 30 you’d need for the over.

Navy +7 @ South Florida - This is another line that doesn’t make sense to me. I know South Florida is at home and they score in bunches, but Navy is a ton better than Temple, and Temple beat that drum like the song was hot just a week ago (week ago!). I expect Navy to stay with South Florida.

Navy/South Florida OVER 63 - South Florida isn’t the only team that can score in bunches. Navy can too.

Fun Props

I’ve never been so glad to be so wrong about half of these:

Penn State rushing touchdowns: 1.5 - UNDER (OVER if you count the Block-6 as a rushing touchdown)
J.T. Barrett passing yards: 199.5 - OVER (245)
Blown Calls: 2.5 OVER (IDGAF SUCK IT BUCKEYES)
Penn State field goals from inside the Ohio State 5: 3.5 - UNDER
Calls for Franklin’s head in the event his team loses by several scores: 125.5/hour - How ‘bout it?

And this week’s:

Penn State rushing yards: 321.5
Penn State passing yards allowed: 249.5
Penn State defense interceptions: 2.5
Instances of announcers saying “letdown” before the game: 22.5

Record

Last Week: 1-3
Season: 14-13
